2. Archibald SINCLAIR (William ) was born in 1824 in Latheron, Caithness, GB.
Before 1858, date of his marriage to Helen Gunn, he resided in Badreasky, Latheron (Badreasky is spelt Baderiesky, at least nowadays ; it is situated near the north-west corner of Rumster Forest, Latheron). He then settled in Watten.
Archibald was employed as a contractor of drains, a general labourer then a crofter in Newton, Watten, Caithness, GB.
Helen Sinclair, his grand-daughter who is still alive, says that he had five attempts before managing to build his croft. In those days, the land belonged to the laird and the only way labourers could possess their own house was by building it within one night. At dawn, the laird would come and check that smoke was coming out of the chimney ; if it was not, he was entitled to have the house demolished. Then the labourer had to try his luck again. No need to say that the whole community was giving a hand in such occasions ! Archibald had a hard time before getting his own croft but he would certainly be happy and proud to know that it is still standing with its four walls, one of the only ones left in Watten ...
He died on 12 JAN 1910 in Newlands, Watten at 7.30 p.m. . The cause of death was old age disability .
Archibald married Helen GUNN, daughter of John GUNN and Ann GRANT on 26 JAN 1858 in Westerdale, Caithness, GB. Helen was born about 1836 in Latheron, Caithness, GB. Before 1858, Helen resided in Backlass, Watten, Caithness, GB. She was employed as a housemaid at the time of her marriage. She died on 17 OCT 1931 in Newton Moss, Watten at 9.50 p.m..
Archibald and Helen had the following children:

Daniel emigrated in 1909/1915 to Queensland, Australia.
